Fatal Charlotte car crash death of Kamron Wood
Officials have offered additional details concerning a serious collision on Saturday morning in the western part of Charlotte that resulted in the death of Kamron Wood and five other individuals.
The accident happened approximately at 11 a.m. on the outer loop section of Interstate 485 located between Wilkinson Boulevard and West Boulevard.
Investigators indicate that a Honda CRV being driven by a 16-year-old named Logan Sauer moved from the center lane over into the right lane. This action resulted in a collision with a Chrysler van. Following this impact, both vehicles exited the roadway onto the right side and subsequently crashed into a parked tractor-trailer.
Kamron Wood, who was eight years old, was one of six people inside the van at the time. Tragically, he was among the five fatalities that occurred in the crash. A 16-year-old female passenger was the sole survivor and is receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
The person driving the van has been identified as Samuel Holmes, aged 27. The other victims involved in this incident were Taylor Willis, who was 23 years old; Brynlon Holmes, aged 1; Addyson Holmes, aged 3; and again, Kamron Wood, the eight-year-old.
The operator of the tractor-trailer sustained no injuries.
Inquiries into this incident are continuing, but law enforcement officials do not expect to file charges against anyone in connection with the crash.
