Fatal Charlotte car crash death of Logan Sauer
Law enforcement officials provided additional information regarding a devastating collision that occurred on Saturday morning in the western part of Charlotte, resulting in six fatalities and one person injured.
The accident happened around 11 a.m. on the outer loop of Interstate 485, located between Wilkinson Boulevard and West Boulevard.
According to investigators, a Honda CRV, being operated by a 16-year-old from Mooresville named Logan Sauer, was traveling in the middle lane when it unexpectedly moved into the right lane and struck a Chrysler van. After the initial impact, both vehicles left the roadway on the right side and collided with a stationary large truck.
Logan Sauer, who was alone in the CRV, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.
Inside the Chrysler van, six people were present. Five of them did not survive the accident, while the sixth, a 16-year-old female, was taken to a hospital for medical attention after sustaining injuries.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the identities of the van’s occupants. They included Samuel Holmes, aged 27, who was driving; Taylor Willis, 23 years old; Brynlon Holmes, 1 year old; Addyson Holmes, 3 years old; and Kamron Wood, 8 years old.
The driver of the parked tractor-trailer was not injured.
Officials from the authorities are still examining the details of the crash but do not anticipate filing any criminal charges in connection with this event.
