Fatal Prince George’s County car crash death of Neville Robinson

Prince George’s County is in shock following a tragic incident where a teenager reportedly struck and killed a man during a heated disagreement on Thursday evening. The Prince George’s County Police Department confirms that a 16-year-old from Bowie used his vehicle to run over 67-year-old Neville Robinson, who subsequently succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Robinson’s death marks the 43rd homicide in the county this year.

Around 10:40 p.m. on July 24, officers were dispatched to the 11400 block of Rhode Island Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a man on the ground whom officers initially thought had been shot. However, a preliminary investigation revealed that Robinson was not the victim of gunfire but had been hit by a car near his home. Police identified the driver as a 16-year-old boy from Bowie, who was involved in a persistent dispute with Robinson.

According to police, the teenager drove to Robinson’s residence. In response, Robinson exited his home and fired a shot at the vehicle as it was leaving. Fortunately, the shot missed its target. The teenager then allegedly drove his car back and struck Robinson, before fleeing the scene without injury. Police have not yet filed charges against the minor.

A local resident, Harriet Weil, expressed dismay at the incident, stating, “It’s a quiet neighborhood, and something like this doesn’t happen here often. People need to learn from this and contact the authorities if there are issues. We need to be more compassionate; this is terrible, and it’s saddening to see violence affect our community.”

Prince George’s County Councilwoman Wanika Fisher echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the human cost of such events. “Every life lost is a tragedy, especially when we consider the statistics. These are real people, and their loss is deeply upsetting,” she said.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to determine all the details of the incident. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Prince George’s County Crime Solvers at 866-411-8477.
