The accident occurred in the late afternoon of Friday, specifically in the 8800 block of Burlington Avenue in Brookfield. Metra representatives stated this was when the collision took place.
The pedestrian involved in the tragedy was identified as Joshua Medley, a 41-year-old. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death was accidental, caused by the severe injuries sustained from the train impact.
The Metra BNSF line experienced operational interruptions due to the incident but eventually resumed operations, albeit with delays. Authorities reported that the intersection near the crash site was temporarily closed before reopening.
