Investigators have confirmed that a 31-year-old man is the individual involved in the tragic incident. The fatal shooting took place near the 5500 block of Buster Drive on Thursday, with the victim succumbing to injuries caused by gunfire.
According to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, the death occurred at 1:21 a.m. Following the event, Haltom City police were dispatched after receiving a 911 call at approximately 12:40 a.m. The call was made regarding an issue at the Heritage Apartments, but the line disconnected without further details. Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual who appeared reluctant to engage with them. Tragically, one officer discharged their weapon during the encounter. The victim did not survive the incident. It remains uncertain whether the deceased was the person who initially reported the situation.
As a result of the shooting, the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave. The Texas Rangers have been assigned to lead the criminal investigation into the incident.
