Brady A. Heiling, who was 19 years old and from Minnesota, passed away due to the injuries he sustained. He was driving the vehicle involved in the incident.
According to authorities, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at around midnight on July 20 after reports of a potential head-on collision. The situation involved injuries, a possibility of being trapped, and the ignition of flames in the affected vehicle on I-39/90 near DeForest.
Investigators stated that an SUV was traversing the wrong direction, specifically southbound in the northbound lanes, and collided with another car. This led to a fire that completely consumed the SUV.
On July 24, the Wisconsin State Patrol announced that a 30-year-old woman from Portage, Noelia Martinez Avila, has been taken into custody. She faces charges of driving while intoxicated and is accused of causing a crash that resulted in fatalities. Officials indicated that she is linked to the death of a Minnesota teenager, identified as Hallie Helgeson.
