The 28-year-old individual, identified as El Moctar Sidiya, perished in a collision that occurred during a police pursuit in the city of Milwaukee, as stated by local officials. Sidiya was involved in an automobile accident Tuesday night, resulting in his untimely demise.
According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, the identity of the deceased was confirmed on Wednesday, the 30th of July. His sibling provided information to TMJ4, revealing that Sidiya had emigrated from Mauritania in the year 2023 in pursuit of improved prospects.
Following the incident, authorities indicated that Sidiya was conveyed to a medical facility, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A 27-year-old cohabitant of the vehicle endured trauma that was assessed as non-critical and survived the accident.
The accident transpired approximately at 9:30 p.m. near the crossing of Humboldt and Brady Streets. Police reports detailed that the pursuit began when officers attempted to intercept a driver engaged in negligent driving close to Teutonia and North Avenues. The suspect eluded apprehension, prompting a high-speed chase that culminated in a collision between the fleeing vehicle and Sidiya’s car.
The female driver, aged 22, who was involved in the escape, was apprehended post-crash and transported to a healthcare center. It was confirmed by the authorities that legal proceedings will be pursued and directed to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office.
In reaction to this unfortunate event, the Brady Street Business Improvement District released a statement expressing its dedication to neighborhood safety and backing for police initiatives aimed at curbing hazardous driving practices in the vicinity.
