Crews discovered a woman, later identified as 64-year-old Lillian Marlene Nagy, at the intersection of Goddard Street and Codsell Avenue. According to her husband, John Moran, she was operating an electric scooter at the time of the accident and was struck by the vehicle. The collision resulted in her death at the scene.
Authorities have described the car as a small white sedan that was not involved in the accident afterward, prompting a search for the vehicle. Later that day, police located the white Mazda near the initial crash location, providing a key lead in the case.
Joan Andrews, an 81-year-old Toronto resident, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death and operating a vehicle dangerously. Her next court appearance is scheduled for this afternoon.
The victim was leaving her friend’s home in the vicinity when the incident happened. Moran shared that both he and Nagy worked for the Toronto District School Board, having retired after three decades of service.
