The untimely demise of Marcus Landry occurred in a vehicular mishap on I-49 North within St. Landry Parish.

Fatal St. Landry Parish collision death of Marcus Landry

Louisiana State Police have officially identified the individual who lost his life when two large freight vehicles collided on I-49 North in St. Landry Parish. The deceased is Marcus Landry, a 40-year-old resident of Broussard.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing law enforcement probe indicate that on Wednesday, July 30, Marcus Landry was operating a 2015 Freightliner M2-160 truck heading northbound on I-49 near the boundary with Evangeline Parish. According to the information gathered, Mr. Landry did not appropriately adjust his speed or position and struck the rear of another large truck, a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia, which was also moving northbound on the same highway.

Mr. Landry did not survive the impact, as medical examiners confirmed his passing at the accident site. Fortunately, the operator of the other involved commercial vehicle sustained no injuries.
