Law enforcement officials in Pennington County confirmed the identities of the two individuals aboard the aircraft that crashed Monday near New Underwood. Upon receiving reports of the single-engine plane mishap located east of 229th Street close to New Underwood, authorities dispatched personnel to the scene.

When responding to the crash location, investigators determined two male occupants were present in the aircraft at the time of impact. The pilot, identified as Isaac Malsom, age 47 and residing in Box Elder, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted for urgent medical attention to Monument Hospital. Tragically, the other passenger, Martin Zorilla Nunez, aged 35 also from Box Elder, did not survive the incident and passed away at the crash site due to the trauma he suffered.

Meteorological information indicated that the region experienced three tornadoes on Monday, though the primary event drawing immediate focus was the aircraft accident. A representative from KELOLAND News named Tyler Louder was present at the crash area on Monday morning and documented the scene through photography.

The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting the official inquiry into the plane crash, potentially in collaboration with the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the accident.
