Fatal Southwest Side shooting death of Edgar Arroyo

A fatal shooting took place on the Southwest Side of Chicago on Saturday evening. According to local news reports, the incident involved gunfire erupting near the 3000-block of W. 37th Place around 9:17 p.m.

Initial police accounts indicated two individuals were standing outside a location when three people exited a vehicle and began firing. The violence resulted in two people being wounded. One of the injured individuals was transported to a local hospital.

Tragically, a man named Edgar Arroyo, who was 30 years old, succumbed to his injuries. He had been shot in both the shoulder and the lower back. Despite being taken to a medical facility, his condition deteriorated, leading to his death.

The second person shot during this incident was a man 57 years old. He suffered a wound to his left armpit and was admitted to the hospital, though his injuries were not immediately life-threatening.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this violent event. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting and double attack.
