San Diego authorities formally identified the 46-year-old man who died following a fatal shooting incident inside a building within the Gaslamp Quarter late last Sunday afternoon, officials announced on Wednesday.
According to the San Diego Police Department, responding patrol officers arrived at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday to reports of gunfire and discovered Antwan Bluthenthal mortally wounded in a third-floor corridor of a structure located at 701 Sixth Avenue.
San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs Louis Magny stated that Antwan Bluthenthal did not survive the gunshot wound and passed away at the location where he was found.
Upon their arrival at the specified address, responding law enforcement officers encountered several individuals on the adjacent sidewalk who had apprehended a man, later confirmed to be 37-year-old Bryan Tyner. They identified him as the suspect and informed police officers of a handgun they had reportedly secured from Tyner.

According to the ongoing police investigation, preliminary findings indicate that the individuals involved, both the deceased Antwan Bluthenthal and the suspect Bryan Tyner, were present at the same time on the premises of a rooftop bar located within the same building.
Deputy Sheriff Louis Magny explained that investigative teams learned the shooting took place on the third floor, even though both the deceased individual and the suspect had been customers at a different establishment situated on the fifth floor of the same structure. He further noted that the third floor also contains a comedy club which was not open to the public at the time of the incident.
Police representatives have not yet revealed any information suggesting a possible reason or motive behind the tragic shooting. The specific location was previously utilized for theatrical performances and is currently occupied by various businesses, including a few dining establishments and the rooftop bar.
