The individual who passed away was identified as Darrell Walker, aged 56. He was taken to Wellstar MCG hospital following the event, but unfortunately, he was declared deceased shortly after.
According to the Richmond County Coroner, Mark Bowen, the accident took place at the intersection of Deans Bridge Road and Dover Street on Thursday morning. Emergency services responded promptly, transporting Walker to the medical facility.
At the hospital, medical professionals confirmed his death later that day, though the exact time was recorded as approximately 7:41 a.m. An autopsy has been arranged to determine the precise cause of death.
This tragic occurrence is part of a series of deadly accidents in the area, with a previous fatality reported on Mike Padgett Highway just days prior. Additionally, another incident claimed the life of an 8-year-old child earlier in the week.
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal event.
