Fatal Middleburg shooting deaths of David Lee and Brandy Smith
Law enforcement officials stated that a 14-year-old youth in Florida has confessed to the murders of his parents, an event stemming from a personal disagreement. According to the account, the teen was the one who took responsibility for the killings.
During a public appearance, Sheriff Michelle Cook of Clay County explained that the parents, David Lee, aged 44, and Brandy Smith, aged 45, were located dead in their home in Middleburg on Monday, with injuries appearing to be from bullets. This discovery was made early in the morning.
The identities of the victims have been confirmed as David Lee and Brandy Smith, both residents of the area. Their son, Trevor Lee, who is 14 years old, reported to authorities that he had just caused the deaths of his parents.
Trevor Lee informed the 911 operator that he would remain at a nearby religious institution to await arrest, as per the sheriff’s description. Responding to this, officers went to both the residence and the church simultaneously.
Upon arriving at the parents’ house, deputies discovered the weapon left behind, which they believe was the firearm used in the incident. It is thought to be the gun belonging to the deceased parents.
Sheriff Cook indicated that a disagreement between Trevor Lee and his parents the previous night resulted in the fatal shooting. She also noted that no other individuals were present in the dwelling at the time of the tragedy.
The teenager was apprehended and is currently in custody. The investigation into the matter is continuing, and no additional details have been released.
