Robert Kowal dies in fatal Limestone County car crash.
Fatal Limestone County car crash death of Robert Kowal.
Limestone County authorities, led by Coroner Mike West, have confirmed that Robert Kowal, a 45-year-old from Athens, Alabama, was the individual killed in the serious road incident that took place on Tuesday afternoon. West officially stated that the deceased person was Kowal.
Further details from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency indicate that the collision involving multiple vehicles happened just before 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, on Alabama Highway 251 just before McKee Road. According to the officials, Mr. Kowal sustained critical injuries that proved fatal. He was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck at the time of the accident.
The investigation report suggests that the tragic event began with a collision between the pickup truck driven by Kowal and a 2016 Honda CR-V being operated by Krystal Hayes, who is 43 years old. Following this initial impact, the pickup truck then crashed head-on into a 2017 Ford F-250 truck that was being driven by Mario Roman, who is 41 years old.
Due to this second collision, the trailer that was attached to the Ford F-250 became detached. This trailer then collided directly with a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was being driven by Michael Bradberry, a 53-year-old individual. Both vehicles involved in these impacts left the main road subsequently. The Ford F-250 drove off the road and landed in a ditch, while the Tahoe also departed the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The traffic situation was significantly affected, with all travel lanes on U.S. Highway 251 near mile marker 10, located within Limestone County, being closed for several hours on Tuesday. Fortunately, the road authorities have since reported that all lanes are reopened.
It was mentioned by the officials that Mr. Kowal was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident, and this lack of restraint was noted at the scene. Separately, Michael Bradberry, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.
Currently, state troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding this multi-vehicle accident.
