Officials confirmed the identity of the fatality that occurred Friday morning on Loveless Road in Hazel Green. The incident involved a boom-lift operator suffering critical injuries.
A 50-year-old man named Brian Edmundson sustained severe injuries after the platform he was using became entangled with a passing vehicle. A 83-year-old driver, identified as Kay West, was behind the wheel of the minivan that initiated the collision.
Investigators stated that following the first contact, the minivan continued on to collide with a stationary large truck. This secondary impact is believed to have caused Brian Edmundson to be ejected from the boom-lift apparatus.
Emergency services transported both individuals to a local medical facility in Huntsville. Tragically, Brian Edmundson’s passing was announced later that same evening on Sunday.
Previous reports indicated the scene was busy with multiple rescue teams. Fire and rescue units from several organizations were dispatched to the area located between McFarlen Road and Pawleys Court. The thoroughfare was reportedly closed during the ongoing investigation.
