Fatal Coles County car crash death of Earon Criswell
Law enforcement authorities in Coles County, Illinois, are currently examining a fatal traffic collision that happened last week. At approximately 11:07 p.m. on July 23, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an accident scene located on Old State Road, close to County Road 400 East.
Upon their arrival, officials discovered that a 2014 Ford Sport Utility Vehicle, which was heading east on Old State Road, had collided with an individual who was operating a motorized mini bike. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the Coles County Sheriff’s Office.
The operator of the mini bike has been identified as Earon Criswell, who is 35 years old and a resident of Mattoon. Following the collision, Mr. Criswell was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries two days later. The exact cause of death is attributed to the injuries sustained in the vehicle accident.
This ongoing investigation involves collaboration between the Coles County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies, including the Mattoon Police Department, Lake Land College Police Department, Mitchell Jerdan EMS, Mattoon Fire Department, and the Coles-Moultrie 911 Authority, with air support provided by the Air Evac Life Team.
