Elmira Heights authorities have identified the individual who was killed in a July 22nd collision involving a truck and a motorcycle. The fatality occurred at the intersection of Grand Central Avenue and East 14th Street within the village.
Police reports state that John Tyler Simpson, who was 27 years old, sustained critical injuries when his motorcycle collided with a truck shortly before the evening hour on July 22nd. Responding officers found Simpson and his passenger, both of whom suffered serious injuries, located on the roadway. The truck operator was present at the scene.
According to the police account, both victims were transported to a regional medical facility for treatment. Subsequently, law enforcement was informed that Simpson had succumbed to his injuries. The passenger on the motorcycle, initially reported in critical condition, has since been discharged from the hospital; however, their name has not been made public.
