A man, Jeshua Gabriel Buchoon, aged 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound in the city’s downtown area during the previous weekend. Toronto police confirmed the death of Buchoon, who was identified as the city’s 24th homicide victim this year.
The incident occurred in the Entertainment District, specifically near John and Adelaide streets, around 10:30 p.m. on August 2nd. Law enforcement reports indicate Buchoon was the target of gunfire. Following the shooting, emergency responders noted he was accidentally bumped by a driver of a vehicle that was attempting to flee the scene.
Buchoon was transported to a medical facility in critical but stable condition. However, medical professionals later reported that he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Two individuals were apprehended by police right after the shooting. Authorities recovered a weapon from their possession.
These detained suspects are anticipated to face more serious criminal charges related to the homicide investigation. The individuals in custody include a 26-year-old man from Mississauga named Mitch Rambali and a 22-year-old man from Toronto named Steve Ganesh. This tragic event represents the 24th fatal shooting in Toronto during 2025 according to official police records.
