Investigators on Tuesday confirmed the identities of two drivers who lost their lives when a speeding motorist collided with multiple vehicles in Santa Ana.
The first driver involved in the incident was identified as Jorge Andres Delgado, a 29-year-old. According to Santa Ana law enforcement, he crashed into a vehicle operated by Leticia Placencia Alvarado, who was 32 years old at the time.
Emergency responders pronounced both victims deceased at the scene where the accident occurred.
In addition to the two fatalities, five passengers from a third vehicle sustained injuries. Their ages were reported as 39, 19, 18, 11, and 1 year old. Medical professionals stated that the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The collision transpired approximately at 6:40 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Main Street and Warner Avenue. A total of four cars were involved in the accident, but occupants of the fourth vehicle emerged unharmed.
Officials noted that Delgado was traveling against the flow of traffic and at an elevated speed during the crash. Multiple drivers managed to steer clear just before the collision occurred, resulting in impacts with three vehicles.
A comprehensive investigation is currently underway by authorities.
