**Scott Overfelt dies in fatal Coloma car crash**

A fatal car crash involving multiple individuals occurred on I-39 in Coloma, Wisconsin, around mid-July.

According to the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement personnel were notified about 11:23 p.m. on Thursday, July 17th, regarding a driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-39 near mile marker 124 at Coloma Township.

While responding, officials were informed again at approximately 11:29 p.m. that a collision had happened near mile marker 125 on I-39, located between the Village of Kimberly and the Township of Coloma.

The primary driver involved in the accident, identified as 59-year-old Scott Overfelt from Wisconsin Rapids, was pronounced deceased at the accident site by the Waushara County Medical Examiner.

The individual driving the wrong way, Dana Markko, aged 39 and from Amherst, was initially transported to UW-Health in Madison with significant injuries. It was later reported that Miss Markko succumbed to her injuries on July 19th.

Preliminary probe results, bolstered by witness accounts, toxicological tests, and an examination of the accident scene, indicated that Dana Markko was impaired by alcohol at the time of the incident.
