Sgt. Jason Blake dies in fatal McComb shooting
Fatal McComb shooting death of Sgt. Jason Blake
Pike County deputies arrived at a McComb residence on Cole Thomas Road shortly after 3 p.m. on August 5, responding to reports that someone was injured. Inside the home, they discovered Sgt. Jason Blake, a 16-year law enforcement veteran with the McComb Police Department, and Clay Paulk deceased from gunshot wounds. A third individual, identified as Nicki Wilson, sustained injuries believed to be non-life-threatening and was transported to a hospital.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the scene indicated a murder-suicide. The initial investigation suggests Paulk, who had a prior connection with Wilson, entered the property forcibly. Deputies reported finding evidence that Paulk used a shotgun against Blake and Wilson before turning the weapon on himself, leading to his death by self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement confirmed his vehicle was discovered nearby. Wilson received medical treatment for her injuries. Chief Earnest Perry noted that Sgt. Blake had gained experience from his time with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office as well as his tenure with the McComb department.
