Local authorities have confirmed the identity of the driver involved in the fatal Sumter County motorcycle collision. According to reports from the county’s official coroner, the individual identified as Trey Wood, who resided in Baconton, was pronounced deceased following the incident.

The fatal accident took place along US-19 in Sumter County. The Georgia State Patrol informed local media outlets that the collision occurred during the evening commute, specifically around 9:45 p.m. The exact location was determined to be approximately 0.2 miles north of Three Bridges Road.

Initial findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that a Harley Davidson motorcycle, described as being black, was traveling southbound on the roadway. According to preliminary information, Mr. Wood, the operator of the motorcycle, suddenly applied his brakes for an unknown reason. This sudden action caused the vehicle to unexpectedly contact the roadway.

As a direct result of this fall, Mr. Wood experienced significant blunt force trauma. He subsequently slid several feet in the southbound direction before the motorcycle and the rider came to a complete stop within the left lane of the highway.
