Wapekka First Nation has confirmed the identity of the man killed during a police shooting inside a community courtroom last week. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Tyresse Kenny Padro Cree Roundsky, passed away on July 31. The Shibogama First Nations Council, which includes Wapekka First Nation, stated that Roundsky was shot in a temporary courtroom located at a youth centre. The community is expressing grief over the loss, noting he was known for being missed by his family, friends, and primary caregiver. The Special Investigations Unit is conducting a probe into the incident. According to investigators, the shooting occurred after a police officer encountered a man carrying a knife at the fly-in courtroom during regular business hours. Prior to the shooting, an interaction took place between the officer and the suspect. The suspect was confirmed dead at the scene following the officer’s gunfire.
