The Wapekeka First Nation has confirmed the identity of the man killed following a police shooting that occurred within a courtroom setting earlier this week. The community is in mourning for Tyresse Kenny Padro Cree Roundsky, reported deceased on July 31st.

The Shibogama First Nations Council, of which Wapekeka is a constituent band, stated that the incident took place inside a temporary courtroom facility located at a local youth centre. Tyresse Kenny Padro Cree Roundsky, aged 23, is described as being deeply missed by his family, friends, and his primary caregiver.

The official inquiry is being handled by the Special Investigations Unit. According to their findings, the fatal shooting happened subsequent to an interaction between a police officer and an individual at the fly-in courtroom during regular business hours. The initial report indicates the suspect approached an officer on duty, and shortly after, the officer discharged their weapon. The individual involved was pronounced deceased at the scene.
