AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, a 28-year-old woman originally from Round Lake Beach, passed away in a fatal two-car accident in Hawthorn Woods.
Officials have confirmed that AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen died because of the injuries she received during a collision. The Lake County coroner’s office reported her death.
The incident took place on Saturday, approximately 4:30 p.m., at the intersection of North Fairfield Road and Holmes Avenue, according to authorities.
A preliminary police investigation indicated that a 2014 Honda CR-V, which was going south on North Fairfield Road, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a 2007 Honda Accord, which was heading north. AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen was a passenger in the struck vehicle. She was declared dead at the scene. Both drivers of the cars were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
The Hawthorn Woods Police Department, along with the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, is continuing to look into the accident.
