Dandre McIntosh dies in fatal Milwaukee shooting
Fatal Milwaukee shooting death of Dandre McIntosh
Identifying the man fatally shot by police in Milwaukee on August 9th was announced by officials. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office shared the deceased’s identity close to two days after the Milwaukee Police Department confirmed the death occurred amidst gunfire with four officers. The police chief, Jeffrey Norman, detailed the incident during a press event on August 9th, stating it took place in the 2700 block of North 60th Street.
The police officers were initially responding to an investigation into several business robberies. Information gathered led them to a house, where the suspect’s vehicle was located in the backyard. While examining the property, officers encountered an armed individual on the back porch. This person was later confirmed to be Dandre McIntosh.
During the encounter, police authorities reported giving Dandre McIntosh multiple instructions to lower his weapon. The suspect ignored these commands. Consequently, a shootout broke out between McIntosh and the responding officers. There is currently no definitive information on whether the fatal gunshot wound belonged to the officers or was self-inflicted by McIntosh, according to Chief Norman’s remarks.
Following the shooting incident, the four officers involved have been assigned temporary, non-investigative duties, which is the standard procedure for law enforcement actions resulting in a fatality.
