Keith Johnson dies in fatal Point Place shooting.
Fatal Point Place shooting death of Keith Johnson
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of a man on Friday who entered a Point Place KeyBank and initially shot towards the ceiling before turning the weapon on himself. Dr. Thomas Blomquist, the county’s medical examiner, identified the individual as Keith Johnson, a 47-year-old resident. Following a post-mortem examination, the official cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, officially classified as a suicide.
The troubling incident commenced around 3:40 p.m. on Friday when Toledo police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were dispatched following a report concerning a potential robbery and shooting at the financial institution located at 5037 Suder Avenue. Law enforcement surveillance reported shortly thereafter, at approximately 4:08 p.m., that the man involved placed the firearm against his head and proceeded to discharge it.
To facilitate the thorough investigation of the crime scene, the area near the bank was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, disrupting normal flow for several hours.
