**Krystal Parker dies in fatal Chesterfield County car crash**
Fatal Chesterfield County car crash death of Krystal Parker
A pedestrian, identified as Krystal Parker, a resident of Brunswick County, has died following an incident on Hull Street Road early Sunday morning in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The roads in the area experienced high levels of traffic, lacking designated crosswalks or traffic signals, which may have contributed to the pedestrian’s decision to cross the street.
Krystal Parker was reportedly walking along Hull Street Road westbound near Turner Road at 2 a.m. on August 10. The Chesterfield Police Department confirmed she was struck by multiple vehicles. While the first two drivers involved in the collision fled the scene, two other drivers remained and assisted with the investigation.
The authorities located one of the fleeing drivers, Karen Palma Martinez, a 27-year-old, near Mockingbird Lane. The second suspect, identified as Kevin Bingham, was found at a nearby gas station. Both individuals were arrested on charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. The charges were filed due to their alleged intoxication, which impaired their judgment and perception according to Gary Lane, a former law enforcement official.
Gary Lane expressed his shock and disbelief regarding the incident, stating, “Four cars hitting one person? It’s mind-blowing.” He further commented that the intersection, described as having heavy activity with shops and gas stations nearby, lacks any pedestrian safety features, making it dangerous even for cautious walkers. He suggested that walking at such an intersection requires personal safety measures.
The two suspects involved in the hit-and-run incident have been released on bond after their arrest. However, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined whether the drivers who remained at the scene will face charges. Lane emphasized the difficulty in imagining such a collision involving four vehicles and one pedestrian, noting, “I’ve seen car accidents … I cannot put together a 4-car-to-1-person collision.”
