The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Malakai Robert Piper, a 21-year-old from Turlock, was the individual who lost his life following a collision that occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Prairie City and White Rock roads. According to the California Highway Patrol, reports indicate Piper was driving a Hyundai Elantra northbound on Grant Line Road when he unexpectedly crossed into the opposite lane and struck another vehicle head-on. The exact reasons for his deviation remain unknown. Law enforcement has stated there is no confirmed information about the influence of drugs or alcohol in this incident. Authorities have reported that Piper succumbed to his injuries directly resulting from the accident. A teenager who was a passenger in the Hyundai Elantra was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, as were the driver of the Subaru Impreza involved. The CHP informed ABC10 on Monday that the young passenger and Piper are not related by blood.
