Ocoee authorities announced on Monday that Stacie Lynn Guerrero, a 54-year-old woman, passed away as a result of being shot during an encounter on Sunday. The incident occurred in Ocoee, Florida, and involved a stolen vehicle.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to 301 West Road around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday to investigate a vehicle theft. They discovered the vehicle parked near the intersection of Ocoee Apopka Road and Publix, located in a nearby parking area.
As the officers approached, the driver initiated the vehicle and drove directly toward them. Both officers were hit by the car during the event. In response, one officer returned fire and fatally wounded Guerrero.
Emergency services transported Guerrero to a regional hospital, where she was pronounced dead later that day. The police emphasized that neither of the officers involved suffered severe injuries and have since been placed on paid administrative leave.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the incident, and no further information has been provided to the public.
