Fatal Hilo motorcycle crash death of Hapaki Teixeira
Hawaii island law enforcement confirmed the death of a man following a Monday night motorcycle incident in the Mountain View area.
The collision, involving a single rider, transpired around 9:48 p.m. at the intersection of Puhala and Hibiscus streets.
Officials identified the motorcyclist as Hapaki Teixeira, aged 34 and residing in Honokaa.
According to police, Teixeira was operating a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle northward on Puhala Street when he encountered control issues and departed the road, subsequently impacting a tree.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and was not reported to be wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Emergency medical services conveyed Teixeira to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he was declared deceased at 10:08 p.m.
