Fatal Aurora car crash death of Harvey Davis

Investigators from the Aurora Police Department are actively searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a deadly accident that occurred in the northwest part of Aurora earlier this month. The incident led to the death of a motorcyclist.

The police unit dispatched to the scene arrived at the location on Dayton Street and East 12th Avenue around 6:15 p.m. on August 9. According to an official statement released by the Aurora Police Department, a person who witnessed the event alerted emergency services via a 911 call, stating that one of the cars in the collision quickly departed the area, leaving a severely injured motorcyclist behind.

The Aurora County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist as Harvey Davis, who was 65 years old and lived in Aurora. Tragically, Mr. Davis passed away three days after sustaining life-threatening injuries from the incident. The police department confirmed this outcome.

The collision reportedly took place when a 2003 Subaru Forester, driving eastbound on 12th Avenue, collided with Davis who was riding a motorcycle northbound on Dayton Street. Based on the ongoing investigation, it is believed that the driver of the Subaru failed to stop at a stop sign, which led to the crash, and then fled the scene.

Aurora police officers located and secured the abandoned Subaru vehicle near the crash site and transported it to a secure impound facility for further examination and potential evidence gathering.
