John Scott Jr. dies in fatal Orange shooting

Fatal Orange shooting death of John Scott Jr.

Orange police were dispatched to Golden Triangle Emergency Center on Saturday morning after being notified of a person arriving with a gunshot wound. The hospital was initially called to Willow Bend Apartments following reports of a shooting around 2:51 a.m. previous day. John Scott Jr., a 29-year-old Orange resident, was transported to the medical facility but later succumbed to his injuries despite attempts to save him. According to the Orange Police Department, officers subsequently went to the address provided, 4030 Sikes Road, and confirmed the shooting occurred there. Detectives from the City of Orange Police Department began investigating the fatal incident and were able to identify the suspect later that day. Joshua Derrall Provost Jr., also 29 and from Orange, was arrested for homicide and transported to Orange County Jail. The suspect was being held on a $1 million bond. Police have not released further details about the shooting investigation at this time.
