A two-year-old girl has been identified by the coroner as the victim of a drowning incident that occurred in a backyard pool over the weekend. The child, Amber Gill, was pronounced dead at Valley Children’s Hospital on Tuesday.

According to reports, the incident took place in the early evening hours of Saturday. Fresno police were dispatched to a residence located at North Shiraz Avenue, specifically the 5700 block, which is situated near Veterans Boulevard and North Blythe Avenue. The initial report indicated that a young child had fallen into the pool and was not breathing.

It is reported that the child’s parents were in the process of driving to the hospital when law enforcement officers located them. Upon their arrival, officers initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the child until the arrival of Fresno Fire Department personnel. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) then transported the toddler to Valley Children’s Hospital, where medical staff confirmed the death.

At this time, authorities have stated there is no indication of foul play in connection with the death.
