According to Mount Carmel Borough Patrolman Justin Stelma, Harry Markel, who was 88 years old, was driving a green Chevrolet S-10 vehicle southbound on North Market Street at approximately 4 p.m. on the day of the incident.

William Snyder, also 79, was driving the light blue Chrysler Town and Country that was struck. The crash occurred when Markel’s truck attempted a U-turn at the intersection involving North Market Street and East Fourth Street. This maneuver resulted in the truck colliding with Snyder’s minivan in the oncoming traffic lane.

The impact occurred on the Chevrolet S-10’s front passenger side, causing severe damage to both vehicles involved. The collision caused the front bumper of the Chrysler Town and Country to be dislodged, while also damaging the hood and the grill. Both drivers sustained injuries as a result of this serious collision.
