J.W. Bode, a Security Officer, Passes Away in Deadly Enid Facility Incident
Tragic death of Security Officer J.W. Bode occurs during fatal Enid facility incident.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Enid law enforcement are examining the circumstances surrounding a late night shooting at a local healthcare facility. Initial reports indicate the incident began as a personal dispute near a residence close to the hospital before escalating within the building.
According to information gathered by authorities, the troubling event commenced shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday following a private disagreement. Police directed the suspect’s vehicle towards the medical center after receiving notification. Upon arrival, officers discovered the individual parked near the main entrance. Attempts to de-escalate the situation were met with gunfire directed at law enforcement vehicles.
OSBI personnel confirmed that the suspect proceeded inside the hospital grounds. There, he discharged a firearm, resulting in the fatal injury of a security personnel member. Hospital security forces subsequently apprehended the suspect inside the premises, leading to an exchange of fire during the encounter. No other injuries beyond the tragic ones reported occurred.
Integris Health Center has officially identified the deceased security officer as J.W. Bode, age 72. The organization described him as a dedicated public safety figure and a loving family man.
