According to preliminary reports, Wendt was traveling eastbound on Howell Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. He then lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with a semi-truck trailer. The impact pinned him underneath the truck, leading to his death.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 23-year-old man from Perry, was not injured in the incident. Sheriff’s deputies have not released the name of the truck driver. Both vehicles involved in the crash were reported to be unoccupied, as there were no passengers.
