Fatal Washburn fire claims life of Steven T. Belmain
Initial reports indicate a house fire broke out on Brook Side Circle in Washburn.
Officials are still determining the identity of the deceased man found inside the structure. The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified to assist with confirmation.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after midnight on Monday following a 911 call received in Houlton.
Upon arrival, firefighters and deputies discovered a single-wide trailer completely engulfed in flames. Multiple units responded to the blaze.
Two individuals sustained injuries related to the fire and were transported for medical treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.
Investigators believe the fire originated in the trailer’s entry area, likely due to equipment connected to a power source. The Maine State Marshal’s Office is leading the fire investigation.
