A second person was located at the scene after a boat mishap in northwest Alabama on Saturday.

According to reports from state police, a fishing boat and a commercial tugboat collided on the evening of Saturday near Pickwick Lake in the Florence area.

Both individuals on the fishing boat ended up in the water. The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the two people were William Michael Sandin and Edison Kim Wallace, who were described as close friends and frequent fishing companions.

One of the two was identified as deceased on the night of the incident, but the other person was missing.

The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office announced that they located the second body on Monday morning, two days after the initial discovery.

The United States Coast Guard is spearheading the investigation, working alongside the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Aviation Unit and Marine Patrol Division.

Local emergency services personnel, including deputies and firefighters, have been involved in searching the area to gather evidence related to the crash debris.
