Fatal Jefferson County drowning death of Yoser G. Rojas Valverde

According to authorities, Yoser G. Rojas Valverde, a 44-year-old resident of Sevierville, tragically passed away while in the water at Douglas Lake. The events unfolded around 4:30 p.m. on the previous Sunday. Reports indicate that Mr. Rojas Valverde entered the water from a floating platform located in the Indian Creek area. Eyewitnesses described seeing him appear to struggle in the water, submerge, and fail to resurface.

Divers from the Carter County Rescue Squad successfully located Mr. Rojas Valverde’s body submerged beneath approximately eighteen feet of water. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are currently conducting an investigation into this incident.
