Yoser G. Rojas Valverde dies in fatal Sevierville drowning
Fatal Sevierville drowning death of Yoser G. Authorities located a man missing from near Sevierville after receiving reports of a drowning incident.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Yoser G. Rojas Valverde, identified as being 44 years of age, entered the water at Douglas Lake, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The agency stated he accessed the water from a pontoon boat located in the Indian Creek area.
Eyewitnesses reportedly saw Rojas Valverde struggling in the water. He submerged beneath the surface and failed to resurface, raising concerns for his safety.
On the following Monday morning, rescuers located Rojas Valverde’s body submerged under approximately 18 feet of water. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency credited the discovery to their efforts. Divers from the Carter County Rescue Squad subsequently retrieved the body.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
