Steven Voris dies in fatal Fernley car crash
Fatal Fernley car crash death of Steven Voris
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of a serious single vehicle incident on US50A in Fernley shortly after noon on the 11th of August. The Nevada Highway Patrol was called to the location after receiving reports about the collision.
According to preliminary findings from the investigating team, the involved vehicle was a 2017 gray Honda CRV. The driver, identified as 75-year-old Steven Voris from Papillion, Nebraska, was driving eastbound on US50A west of Lois Lane. It is reported that the driver veered off the road, entered the right shoulder area, and collided with a roadside sign.
Following this impact, the vehicle continued eastward along the shoulder, crossing Lois Lane and entering the property of a nearby business. It then proceeded to collide with another sign. The car was subsequently observed crossing 6th Street while still in the shoulder, before crashing into a residence.
Steven Voris was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders. The female passenger, who was an adult, suffered only minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials indicated that witness accounts and the extent of vehicle damage point away from the collision being the direct cause of the driver’s death. Nevertheless, a formal determination of the cause of death is pending examination by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
