Maryland State Police have named the two individuals who lost their lives in a serious multiple-vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Prince George’s County. The incident involved several cars colliding near the intersection of Route 202 and St. Joseph’s Drive.

The details of the accident indicate that a collision involving multiple vehicles resulted in two deaths and several injuries. Tara Gross, identified as 50 years old and from Camp Springs, was driving one of the vehicles that was directly impacted. Dandra Byrd, who was 31 and from Riverdale, was reported as a passenger in the same car.

Investigators revealed that the crash was initiated when a Honda Accord, being operated by Tierra Johnson, who is 28 and from Upper Marlboro, struck a median divider. This impact caused the vehicle to become airborne, which subsequently set off a domino effect involving a total of seven automobiles.

Emergency services responded quickly and transported five individuals to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center via ambulance. Officials confirmed that excessive speed is considered a potential factor in the accident, and legal actions may be pursued following the ongoing probe.

The official cause of the crash is still being looked into by the authorities.
