Fatal death at hotel of Jarod Norris

The Richland County Coroner’s Office officially identified the deceased infant as Jarod Norris. The seven-month-old was taken to a local medical facility following an emergency call from a hotel in Columbia, S.C.

According to preliminary reports, emergency medical services were dispatched after receiving notification of a baby in distress. Upon arrival at the Days Inn Hotel located at 1144 Bush River Road, medical personnel found the infant unresponsive and transported him to the hospital immediately. Other adults were present in the room at the time of their arrival.

Investigative teams from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department were informed about the infant’s critical condition as soon as they were dispatched. The cause of death for Jarod Norris remains undetermined, and at this time, no arrests have been made.

The ongoing investigation is being handled by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Coroner’s Office.
