Fatal Bloomington fire death of Randall L. Klockenga
The McLean County official released the identity of a Bloomington man whose death resulted from a fire in his residence.
Initial autopsy findings for the 63-year-old man did not specify how he died but indicated no evidence of foul play.
Fire crews located the body inside Klockenga’s single-family dwelling on West Elm Street shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they observed heavy smoke and flames originating from the attic.
Responding personnel immediately began tackling the blaze while also searching for anyone else who might have been missing from the property.
During their inspection of the structure, firefighters discovered Klockenga’s remains. The Coroner’s Office confirmed his death at the scene.
The intense fire resulted in complete destruction of the property, leaving nothing salvageable.
Investigators are continuing their work into the incident.
