Fatal car crash death of Rosario Edgar in Currituck County
Investigators from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that a serious accident occurred on NC 12 at North Harbor View around 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday. The incident involved a 2023 Ford Explorer driven by Rosario Edgar, a 65-year-old from Marietta, Georgia. Edgar was moving too quickly and lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the road, hit an embankment, and roll multiple times.
The front passenger, Nicholas Danbrowney, a 22-year-old from Barnegat, New Jersey, was not secured with a seatbelt and was thrown from the car during the rollover. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Edgar was transported to a nearby medical facility but later passed away due to his injuries. A third person inside the vehicle received treatment for minor harm at another hospital.
The patrol stated that speeding and the failure to wear seatbelts were significant contributors to this deadly event.
