Fatal Newburgh car crash death of Peter Williams
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, which happened on Route 69 shortly before noon Wednesday. The road is locally known as Carmel Road North, and the crash occurred near the crossroads with Route 202. According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved a sports car and a large truck.
Investigators stated that the Porsche sedan, being operated by a 66-year-old man from Searsmont, went off course. It crossed the center line on a bend and collided face-to-face with a freight vehicle carrying scrap material. The second collision then sent the truck crashing through a nearby building, resulting in heavy destruction.
The authorities released that video evidence from one of the vehicles involved was instrumental in piecing together the events. This footage was gathered during the ongoing probe.
Williams, who was in the car at the time, didn’t survive the incident. The news release also mentioned that his dog, a passenger in the car, did not make it either.
The individual driving the truck, a 43-year-old man from Albion, received a medical checkup at the location. However, he was not taken to a hospital for treatment.
