Albemarle County Fire Rescue officials confirmed the identity of the woman killed in the recent house explosion near Keswick. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Justine M. Joscelyne, a 76-year-old resident of Keswick.
Emergency services responded to the scene around 6:00 p.m. on August 19 after receiving reports of a significant explosion in the Glenmore area. Upon arrival, first responders found two injured individuals and the severely damaged remains of the dwelling.
The force of the blast resulted in the death of one woman and left a man suffering from serious injuries. According to current reports, the injured individual is receiving treatment at the VCU Burn Center. His condition is described as stable as he remains under medical observation.
Investigators with the Albemarle County authorities are actively examining the incident. Initial findings suggest a possible gas leak may have contributed to the explosion, although a full investigation is ongoing to determine the precise cause and contributing factors.
