Police were sent to the scene after receiving a report around 6:06 PM on August 9th, 2025. They found a motorcyclist involved in a collision with a sport utility vehicle at the point where Garmish Road meets North Union Boulevard. When officers arrived, they were informed that the motorcycle operator had already been pronounced dead by emergency medical services.

Following the initial response, a specialized team from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Unit began taking charge of the case investigation. According to current findings, exceeding the legal speed limit seems to have played a role in the collision.

On August 11th, 2025, an autopsy examination was performed on the deceased motorcyclist by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. The official identification confirmed the rider as twenty-year-old Spencer Lehmkuhl.
